Recyclists

Recycling is so much part of our lives these days that we are very familiar with the word recycle as a verb, we take things to the recycling, we may even buy a recycler to provide compost for the garden.

So, we recycle, we use recycled paper, glass, etc and we use recyclers, but what are we, the people who do the recycling?

The word recycle must mean basically to use the recycled items for another cycle, or cycle again. So, if to cycle means we are cyclists, if we recycle, we must be recyclists.

Recyclers just doesn't sound right, it makes us sound like something you would stand in the garden and throw compost in. Getting on your bike will never make you a cycler, it has to be cyclist.

So, we think we have probably invented a new word, recyclist, so we who recycle are recyclists.

This website then, is about recyclists. However, being a good recyclist isn't just about chucking bottles in a container in the local council car park, or your nearest Tescos or Asda, a recyclist should do much more than that.

What a recyclist should be doing is using the end result of their own recycling efforts, and the good work of other recyclists. So, think where your recycling goes.

All that paper and cardboard you put out for the paper collection is made into new paper and cardboard, so if you have the choice, why not use recycled paper when you can?

The bottles don't just go to make other new bottles, they also help to make new glassware, so you can enjoy your favourite tipple while still caring for the environment and the future of our delicate planet.
